Some of the more traditional "old school" marketing still works well in this industry. Posting "For Sale" signs in the yard is, and always will be, a great way to get people to notice your home is on the market. The nice thing about yard signs is the visibility to neighbors. Your neighborhood is still one of the best places to look for buyers. Why? They have friends who want to live in a nice neighborhood, and who knows better than your neighbor what a great place you live in? Print advertisements are another good ol' tool to get your home noticed. Responses to homes advertised in newspapers is not as good as it used to be. But, Northstar Realty still finds value in using papers like the St. Pete Times and the Orlando Sentinel, especially for open houses. The nice thing about these papers is that any homes featured in their print ads are added to their online database. The online newspapers rank high on search engines like google and yahoo, making them more visible to customers who are searching online.

Direct mail remains one of the best marketing tools for selling homes. The trick is to get someone to pick up, look at, and hang onto that piece of mail. Northstar's strategy is to make it the best looking piece of mail, and the most noticeable piece of mail in every home. To accomplish this,
